The conventional electromagnetic power on brake (also known as a single face friction brake or flange mounted brake) gives a braking effect when the coil is energised. The power on brake can be used in both a static and dynamic application, as the construction includes an asbestos free friction material embedded in the working face.
The electromagnetic power on brake is used to stop a rotating load when the electrical power is turned on and can be supplied with various armature styles (C.L., C.C. or C.R., see datasheet) to suit the intended design layout. These consist of an armature plate and return spring
Our electromagnetic power on brake also comes in a range of high torque (multi-pole) versions, which give a higher static torque within the same envelope. These are generally used for static holding applications, but may be used for limited occasional dynamic use, as they generally do not have an embedded friction ring in the working face.
This friction brake has a single face. Due to its solid construction, the power-on brake is backlash-free (torsionally rigid).
